In Nature Club, students focused on the art of camouflage. They first observed pictures of the Eastern Screech Owl, the smallest native owl. The students then learned that they stand only eight inches tall with their ear tufts, are found in two-color phases (gray and rufous) and are capable of blending in to look like tree bark as they sleep.

Using sycamore tree bark, the Nature Club members then disguised a “sleeping owl” inside a hole in a tree.
