The Fire Island Community Library services the residents and summer community of Fire Island. A valid driver's license is required to obtain a library card, giving patrons access to the over 10,000 in-print materials in our comprehensive catalog, including periodicals. Additionally, the library is equipped with computers for patron use and free Wi-Fi on site, both subject to compliance with the Wireless Internet Acceptable Use Policy. Materials are circulated for a period of two weeks and are renewable by phone or in-person. There is a $.10 per day overdue charge for materials that are not returned on time and there will be a $3.00 charge for lost or damaged library cards.

Fire Island residents may also visit the Patchogue-Medford Library (54-60 East Main Street, Patchogue) and register for a "local use only" Patchogue-Medford "central library" card that will allow them full access to the collections and services of the Patchogue-Medford Library. Residents with these central library cards can use the cards to access materials and collections of various Suffolk County public libraries as well as the features of, which include e-book downloads, live study help, and commercial databases.
