Flower Dissection

student work thumbnail250095

During Environmental Day, third and fourth grade students at Woodhull Elementary School in the Fire Island School District got up close and personal with flowers. The students dissected flowers and seeds, looking closely for specific parts and then identifying each part with the help of diagrams.

After separating each part, students sorted the parts of the seeds they found. One student proudly showed off his ability to carefully separate the embryo of the seed.
