Diving Deep Into PARP

Fire Island students thumbnail256478

As students sailed into the second week of Pick A Reading Partner month with an under the sea theme, Woodhull continued its literary journey with enthusiasm and determination. With over 3,000 minutes logged in reading during the first week, students demonstrated their voracious appetite for books and the joy of diving into new adventures through reading. Morning announcements sparked curiosity and engagement as students were challenged to identify songs, revealing that music is poetry put to melody—a perfect complement to the PARP theme.

A special highlight of the week was Barnes & Noble Night, where families voyaged over to the mainland to enjoy a read aloud book “Swimmy” led by school librarian Ms. Daidone. Thanks to our wonderful PTA, all students received gift certificates to ensure that everyone left with a book in hand.

The week culminated in a spectacular full-school karaoke at recess, led by DJ and teacher Mrs. Donovan. With student favorites echoing across the playground, staff and students alike joined in the fun, singing and dancing together. Colorful DJ swag added to the festive atmosphere , creating an unforgettable reading, singing and dancing experience for all.
