Woodhull Elementary School students are once again learning about sustainable horticulture through the use of a tower garden, a vertical, aeroponic growing system set up in the cafeteria.
This year, students will be growing vegetables and herbs and will get to taste everything they grow. The fifth and sixth grade will be helping maintain the garden, as they learn how to measure the water, add vitamins and minerals when needed and to test the PH levels. They will also learn how to harvest the plants once they are full-grown.
After the fifth and sixth grade learn the basics, they help the younger students learn about the system. All students will be able to enjoy the harvest later in the year.
